[SOLVED] I am considering mixing memory all from Corsair.

The model numbers:

CMK8GX4M2B3000C16 vs. CMK8GX4M2C3000C16 - I wonder if I mixed them if I'd have compatibility issues.

I currently have a 2x4GB Kit of the older model Corsair RAM. The newer model is a revision different.

I doubt I would get DDR4-3000 with 4 slots occupied, but I was curious if you all thought it would work at all...

I did it on an i5-2500k and ASRock Z75 PRO3 where I had a Kingston DDR3-1333 set of 2x2GB and I installed a DDR3-1600 set of 2x4GB for a total of 12GB of course it ran at 1333 but it worked fine - plug and play...

UPDATE:

I ended up mixing Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4-3000 CAS 15-17-17-35 2x4GB with a Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4-3000 CAS 16-20-20-38 2x8GB set for a total of 24GB, and without any tweaking needed to boot.
It is only running at DDR4-2133 15-15-15-36-51-2T for now however. I will do some BIOS tweaking and try to get it happy at DDR4-2666. If I can not get it to at least DDR4-2666 I'll remove the old 2x4GB set and sell it and run the 16GB kit at its rated speed.


UPDATE2:

I ended up getting the DDR4 kits running together at DDR4-3000 with the slower CAS 16-20-20-20-38-70-1T @ 1.350v timing but I felt that overall the system was unstable, displaying odd system issues and chose to back off for now to DDR4-2666 16-18-18-18-38-58-1T @ 1.210v, I am having no system stability issues at this time with these settings.

Overclocking the CPU to my previous overclock settings of 3.867GHz @ 1.3675v was attempted at DDR4-3000 and the system was so unstable that I had to clear the CMOS with the motherboard's onboard jumper. I'll attempt a smaller overclock now that everything appears stable at DDR4-2666 but I'm all out of will power to try that today, perhaps in a few days once stability seems good at my current DDR4-2666 I'll try it.

Thanks for your information. I'm mixing 2x CMR16GX4M2C3000C15 with 2x CMK8GX4M1D3000C16. The system is unstable at 3000MHz (D.O.C.P profile) but it's fine at 2800MHz (Auto profile). My build:
  • Asus PRIME X370-PRO
  • AMD Ryzen 7 1700
  • Nvidia GTX 1050-Ti
  • 2x Corsair CMW16GX4M2D3000C16 16-20-20-38
  • 2x Corsair CMR16GX4M2C3000C15 15-17-17-35

I just set the RAM frequency to 2800MHz using Asus AI Tweaking.
