I am fairly new to building my own pc and have had it for about 6 months. I recently upgraded from a Ryzen 5 to a Risen 9 5950x. I did not update bios before upgrading which was a mistake on my part. I couldn't get past a bios screen no matter what I tried with the new cpu so I tried installing the old cpu and then updating bios then reintstalling the new cpu and continuing but even with my old cpu, which worked perfectly fine before, I still couldn't get past a bios screen. I checked my boot configuration and set it to UEFI and that still wouldn't work. I gave up in worries of complicating it more and took it to a computer store for them to check it out. Im still curious as to if anyone has had this problem and was able to get it fixed, and if so how? Please let me know.

Did you reset the CMOS when you put the old CPU back in? You say you took it to a store, I'm assuming they didn't fix it?
The store won't do anything on it till Tuesday so it isn't in my possession until later next week. But no I did not reset the CMOS. How would I do that for future reference?

There's a few pins on the motherboard related to the CMOS. If you connect the relevant ones (will tell you in the manual) with either a jumper or screwdriver it will reset the CMOS. Alternatively you can just remove the battery for 5 minutes.
