I am locked out of a windows 8 Dell computer.

Wife inherited it after the passing of her grandfather. We can not figure out the password. We are not interested in the files, we simply want use of it.

I have already tried loading the command prompt from trouble shooting screen but needed the password to access it. I tried loading in safe mode with command prompt but the CMD never showed up for me to type explorer.

Forum policy forbids discussing bypassing passwords. Two suggestions: 1) Contact Dell. 2) Re-install Windows,which will wipe all the files but leave you with a usable system. Of course, you may have to do 1) to get the media.

Since you are not interested in the files, simply re-install Windows using the install media that came with the computer or a new install media from the microsoft website.
