i am logged in as admin but cannot share my video folder with anyone.......telling me access denied?? what has happened and ho

i am admin, no other people use my laptop. i have downloaded movies from my own usb sticks from a friends computer. i can access the movies on the usb sticks but cannot even open my videos or movies folders{my own made folder}, it tells me access is denied. how so? and how to fix it?? cheers
