I am looking to upgrade my ryzen 3 1200 to a ryzen 5 1600. What would I need before starting this (e.g. new cooler)

But I would like to upgrade the ryzen 3 1200 to a ryzen 5 1600. This is the first time I will be upgrading my PC and I am unsure if I need any additional components such as a new cooler and thermal paste?

What psu is in there?
Also why not go for the 2600? Just update your bios and you are good to go.

I know but it just says 500w 80+ that could be anything. It could be a totally terrible unit or something that is ok.

With a 1600 you dont need a cooler or thermal paste.

It comes with the full size wealth spire ,already has paste preapplied & will drop straight in.

Be aware that the stock cooler paste is very sticky. It is highly probable that your installed CPU will come out with the cooler.
