I am running a 3.5mm wire from my headset out port on my monitor (with xbox one hdmi) to my line in on my computer, but I only hear audio out of the right earpiece. I have downloaded and installed the current drivers for the motherboard from their website, but no improvement 🙁 Anyone have any suggestions?

Yes, sorry I forgot to add that the headphones are turtle beach x12's and are plugged into the audio out 3.5mm on the computer. Sounds from the PC play through both ears, but the line in audio only plays through the right ear.

Also, here are a few pictures of the setup:
The 3 colors on back being blue-line in, green-audio out, pink- headphones. The headset is connected to green and pink for mic, and the 3.5mm carrying the audio from my monitor is going into the blue.

Edit: Had to relink pics

Try to plug the headphones into your monitor. If you get both channels, plug them back into your pc and do this. Go to control panel > sound > playback devices > speakers/headphones (whichever you use to get the sound to your headphones) > right click and select properties > open the 'levels' tab and check microphone volume is ok, the click balance (right from the volume control) and check that both channels are at 100%.

When I plug the headphones into the monitor, the sound comes through perfectly from both sides. I checked and made sure that the balance and volume adjustments were up for both the microphone and line in jacks in Windows but unfortunately this wasn't the problem.

Also if I try moving the balance slider all the way to the left for the line in, then I cannot hear any sound from the line in.

I installed the driver you mentioned (although I could only find the 5.1 surround) but the problem remains 🙁

Does the cable carrying audio from the two units have one or two black bands on the connector? One black band means its a mono/unbalanced (only the left channel) cable.

Check this image. Which of the center two connectors do you have?

Do you have an alternate 3.5mm cable to carry audio from A-to-B to confirm it's not a faulty wire?

Wear the headphones and have audio playing. Insert the connector of your headphones slowly into the output jack of your computer. Do you hear audio briefly pop in the right channel, or in both?

Almost a year later I realized that I never came back to this thread. I want to close this thread and let anyone else that might have this problem in the future know that I had a faulty 3.5mm audio out port on my motherboard 🙁
