this is so stupid. the same price with GTX 295.
but less power than 295.
one thing that is better than 295 is

295 - 300-350W
5870 - 200-250w

I am going to sell my 5870 and wait for 5870X2 or GT300.

one more question. um...

somebody told me that 5870 will be better then 295 when the new drive for 5870 is out.

true?

ati 5870 380$ gtx295 450$+
Performs slightly less then a gtx295 but with dx11 im sure it will beat a gtx295. New card performance should get better as drivers mature and more dx11 games are available.

Exactly.

1. 5870 has early drivers, its performance will improve with updates. GTX295 won't get any better than it already is.

2. 5870 is a single card, and doesn't suffer from Sli/Xfire scaling issues like the GTX295

3. 5870 costs $399, GTX295 costs $499

4. 5870 is dx11 compatible, GTX295 is only dx10 compatible

5. 5870 uses less power and runs cooler than the GTX295

6. See all of the above.

7. 5870 produces the same or higher amount of minimum frame rates as the GTX 295 meaning it will perform the same in all but benchmarks (extension of #2)

8. 5870 can be crossfired producing far greater performance than daul GTX 295s with very immature drivers.

9. Eyefinty is cool for some and is a nice thing to have.

10. Crossfire is supported in all mainstream and highend Intel and AMD platforms while nVidia is not always.

11. 5870 is one of the most ridiculous looking cards thanks to the ugly heatsink... erm wait wrong list.

12. see above

Yes, you are still using beta drivers, so performance will improve. How much will be a guess, but if history repeats it should be enough to tie/beat the 295. If you really already have one, I don't see any reason to get rid of it, though you could always send it to me.

I suggest you to buy three 5870’s what I did.
3 HD5870 = awesome…

As far for the power consumption I have to say that it is only relevant for the poor people…

gtx 300 will fipe the floor with that 5870, by by ati see you in the next round

Not a fair comparison, because it will be launched much later (there's always something better coming up, so you can only compare cards launched at the same time.)
Uf course you knew that already, and you just couldn't resist trolling.

No one knows pricing for sure of the 5870x2, but I highly doubt it will be only 100-150 more than a single 5870. Unless it doesn't show up until Nvidia has its new cards out, and is priced ultra competitively out the gate.
