I am to upgrade my DDR2 PCI-E slot.

I have my a6640d HP Pavilion PC, and has the stock graphic card of INTEL(R) G31/G33 Family Chipset.

I am considering to buy ATI Radeon HD 4650 - 512 MB of GDDR2, and my friend suggest i buy 9500GT.
Btw, i am a fan and a long hour player of CoD's specially this coming MW3, would i buy ATI Radeon HD 4650 - 512 MB of GDDR2 ?

The HD 4650 is a fine choice, but DDR3 versions of the card, or the 4670 would perform quite a bit better. I have seen many tests where the DDR3 versions perform much better than the DDR2 cards.

You can see the HD 4670 is several tiers up from the 9500GT. That card was never really good for gaming.

Here is an HD4650 with 1 GB GDDR3 for $45, but has a rebate too bringing it to $30. It has good reviews as well.

But, i only have a DDR2, mobo.
I cant buy GDDR ++ and DDR3 ++ Graphic cards

ur system RAM has nothing to do with ur GPU ram, in fact, ur GPU and CPU are on completely different plates of silicon.
as far as gaming is concerned, u should get a HD5670 GDDR5 is u can, prices have fallen a lot recently

GPU memory is an entirely different from system memory. You can use GPU with whatever memory as long as the interface used to connect the GPU is the right one (except may be some incompatibility seen on pcie 2.1 support on pcie 1.0 board, which does not apply to your choice of GPU, you are 2.0 on 1.1).

I only see a problem with psu not giving enough power.

So my concern is only my PCI-e and my psu? Even money though lol
My friend says that the vcard will burn if it doesnt fit. Like i have a mobo supports ddr2, and i input a gddr5 vcard. it will burn/malfunction

hmm, yeah basically the only thing you need to worry about is...

when buying ram, look at what DDR#

when buying GPU look at the PCI-E# (also the power supply to see if it will run the card)

when buying processors look at the socket# (or sometimes called type)

as for will the psu run the card, most likely and as for will your pci-e handle 2.0 ... honestly im not sure, some times cards are backwards compatable with 1.0 (not sure how to tell the difference between 1.0/1.1 from those specs, someone clear this up please?) but if its 1.1 then yeah it will work (from what im told) basically as long as its the right PCI-E type then it can take any GDDR number

your ram DDR# has NOTHING at all to do with your video card, at all.

Don't worry about pcie compatibility. The 5670 is 2.0. So far, only heard of compatibility issue with 2.1, not 2.0. But hOlyhexOr must get a new psu.

I think it is a rule to never trust psu from oem system if you want to put a new gpu in it. You never know what corner cutting psu they put in there. So if they are rated 250W, it may be so crap that it only provide just enough power for the factory config to work and no more.

you can get a hd4770 which is nearly 3 times as fast as hd4650 .check xfx shop.they have some cheap stuff there.

Just someone give me my PCI-e Express #? If its 1.0 or 2.0..
I just need that, so i can buy already. Though i can buy a new PSU. i can do my own
And btw i have a budget of under 70 dollars..

1.1 on you mobo and I said it on my 1st post. And I will say again: you don't have to worry about the pcie incompatible issue. There were incompatible issues with 2.1 card only, and your 5670 is a 2.0
