I am trying to copy photos to a Sony CD-R 700 mb disk. I get "Insert a disc. There is no disc in the drive. Please insert a writable disk into drive E:". I have tried several similar disks. What am I doing wrong?

Try changing the write speed.
Open 'My Computer'. Right click on DVD/CD-R/W drive. Select Properties. Select Recording tab. Make sure 'Enable CD recording on this drive' is checked. Change write speed from 'fastest' to 4X (or as fast as you dare). Click Ok.

Make sure there is a disk in the drive before you do this. Also make sure you have the right drive. if both these are good and the discs are blank then you probably have a dud drive.

Can it read normal CD's and are you sure it is a CD writer drive?
