The problem started when I accidentally started(and stopped) the update right before a video appointment. Now, Every time I try to do the update, it fails. How can I fix this? TIA

Solution
oh. you should get one, they can be useful... if for nothing other than reinstalling windows.

I have properties
KFRtL7O.jpg

if you don't have that...

right click start button

choose Windows Terminal (admin)

if it doesn't open as powershell, click the drop down arrow in title area and pick it from list.

copy/paste this command into window:

Repair-WindowsImage -Online -RestoreHealth

and press enter

Then type SFC /scannow

and press enter

Restart PC if SFC fixes any files as some fixes require a restart to be implemented

First command repairs the files SFC uses to clean files, and SFC fixes system files

SFC = System File Checker. First command runs DISM -...

it hasn't been able to complete install on my PC either, I had put updates on hold for a week, lets see if it works now I have enabled them again.

I didn't do anything odd with mine, it just refuses to install. So I am not sure if problem is your end. I have tried to install it twice already.

Unfortunately, I am glad I am not the only one. Would the incomplete installs be on the PC?

I am not sure, I just tried again and it just failed again.
It completes the download, its about 25% into the install process.
Fun part if restart PC now and it will think its running updates so it doesn't finish the work it started.

We are not alone - https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us...-install/f881834b-e983-48f9-b531-324d2f4b7d53

I feel with so many having same problem, its the Patch that is to blame, not the users.

A repair install could fix it - https://www.elevenforum.com/t/repair-install-windows-11-with-an-in-place-upgrade.418/

or you could just ignore it and think, maybe the version update of win 11 might be soon and I can just ignore this patch. It can't be far away.

I think I will wait for the patch.

its likely that the next CU will fail as well as it relies on previous one. It also seems I am missing more than 1 patch. I am on 22000.739, latest is 795

More suggestions - https://www.elevenforum.com/t/update-kb5015814-wont-install.7692/#post-158419

Repair install fixed it for me. I could have waited but once I get an idea in head I have to act.
22000.795 now. Only took 30 minutes.

Helps to remove any extra AV programs you might have, they can get in the way.

Mine is at 22000.778
22000.778 KB5014668
at least you got further than I did before it broke
I was stuck on 22000.739 KB5014697 before I ran the repair install
After fixing it I am on 22000.795 KB5015814

So something in the June patches broke the system.

funny thing is you already have the patch you trying to get
Back in June MS released KB5014668 (optional preview cumulative update) which failed to install for many people. KB5015814 is the release version of that same update.
https://www.elevenforum.com/t/update-kb5015814-wont-install.7692/page-2

The version you are currently on is the optional preview CU of the patch you trying to get...

Someone at Microsoft deserves a slap

Its not going to fix itself. You need to do a repair install, its not that hard.
just follow steps on this website which you can have open until windows actually starts the install.
I was going to wait for 22H2 but it may not be out until October. Better to just fix windows now.

I am doing the 'In-Place Upgrade'. I downloaded the file. Now I have these instructions:

  1. If you want to install Windows 11 directly from the ISO file without using a DVD or USB flash drive, you can do so by mounting the ISO file. This will perform an upgrade of your current operating system to Windows 11.
  2. To mount the ISO file:
    • Go to the location where you downloaded the ISO file. Then, right-click the ISO file and select Properties.
    • On the "General" tab, click "Change…" where it says, “Opens with:" and select Windows Explorer for the program you would like to use to open ISO files and select Apply.
    • Right-click the ISO file and select Mount.
    • This will create a “virtual” bootable disc. Double-click on it to view the files within. Double-click setup.exe to start Windows 11 setup.
I right-clicked on the ISO file, but there wasn't anything that said 'Properties'.
