After experiments with monks and mindcrafters, my old fashioned
drakeling barbarian finally hit the spot! He uses the rune covered
trident, is level 18, and his stats are all very high. With the fire
orb on, his strength is 41, toughness is almost 40, learning and
willpower are in the 20s, and the others are great, too.
I owned darkforge and got the black glaive spear artifact. It gave me
about 2 levels of extra piety. I killed the snake from beyond with a
blessed mithril spear and my crystal tower shield on normal tactics. I
would do very little damage, but I was only hit one time. The ACW was a
joke. He went down in 3 hits, not even mighty or tremendous, to my
mighty trident! He was easier than an elemental. He dropped a precious
wand of cold, which I had sought for the whole game. The TotHK was
easy! The mother of all spell shops was in the first floor. There were
about 40 books there. It was like 5x8! Seriously. I bought and learned
frost bolt and saved my wand for later (I should have done this before
the ToEF!) Why didn't my monk get this awesome shop!?
Now, I'm ready to rock. My only corruption is the hard skin +8 PV one,
and the dex loss is easily countered by my trident. I love this
corruption. I have 50 PV and 30ish DV on berserk. I have nearly 400 hit
points. I have level 12 in polearms. I'm crowned. I kill almost
everything in one hit. I have intrinsic teleport control. I have no
idea what to do. It is about day 40. Khelly died, as usual for me.
I'm thinking of doing the rift dungeon and getting the weird tome. I'm
afraid of getting a nasty corruption like stiff muscles. Level 18 is
high enough, I think. My climbing is maxed out. I could try the casino,
but I only have about 25000 gold because Waldenbrook is broke. I don't
know if I can handle the air and earth areas yet. I have never been
past the wall of fire before.
I am also thinking of getting the bug cave scrolls. But since I'm based
on PV, I don't know how I would go at it. There just aren't any good
one handed spears out there for the late game. The speed bonuses would
also be useful, but I need experience. How in the world do I gain
levels?! I'm so glad I'm not a troll, but I still have issues with
experience.
