I bought a 1200 mbps wireless USB wifi adapter but 10 mbps on my computer

I recently bought a wireless USB wifi adapter for my computer because the antenna broke and I had to buy a new one. I put it in the computer and it somehow managed to only get around 10 to 20 mbps which is very disappointing. Is there something I need to uninstall or install? Is there a driver I need to install?

- It depends on your internet connection subscription : if you have a 20mbps internet subscription, your wireless adapter can't provide more than that internet bandwidth but would get more bandwidth (up to 5G/866Mbps or 2.4G/300Mbps in network file transfers or streaming over your home network if your router is capable of those speeds in their respective frequencies.
- To verify your adapter is working at it's rated speed go to Control panel> network connection> right click on your adapter/network> status> it will provide you with link quality and speed for your Wireless adpater.
Example : my setup: I run an AC1900 modem router coupled with a 5GHz 1.3 Gbps Asus usb 3 Wifi adapter : signal quality: excellent (5 bars), speed : 1.3 GBps (bit per second). maximum download speed= 2.5 MegaBYte/sec (=20mega bit per second) which equals exactly my internet subscription : 20mbps.

So basically the extra wirelesses bandwidth is useless for basic internet speeds subscriptions.
A 150 Mbps over 2.4 band would cover up to 150 mbps internet subscription ! (as they are provided in mbps and not in MBps)
