I bought the Linksys CM3016 cable modem

Now the question is will the modem support 300mbps from Charter/Spectrum? I currently have 115mbps I will eventually upgrade to 300mbps later down the road and I don’t want have to buy a new cable modem.

From what I read you can go up to 686Mbps in download speed.

So that "up to" speed, divide that in half and that is what the modem will be able to sustain just fine.

So yes the 686mbps modem can handle a constant 300mbps connection just fine.

I am kind of confused as to why Linksys says "16x4 cable modem for Internet service plans up to 250Mbps" and then on the same page says "Multiple channels support speeds of up to 686Mbps." The latter of which corresponds to the actual DOCSIS 3.0 spec.
