Question I can’t download games to my new external SSD ?

I’m having a problem with my Intel Celeron N4500 dual core CPU maxing out when I try to download games directly to my external Crucial X6 1tb portable SSD. When I try to download a game from Microsoft store it stops at 1% progress. I have downloaded games to the main drive fine but it’s only about 60 Gb. I also went to the website for the SSD and updated it's firmware. Any suggestions would help
