I can hear people but they cannot hear me.

Does anyone know how I can fix my mic for windows 8? It used to work fine until one day it stopped working. Its a realtek headset/mic.

Did you turn up the mic gain? make sure its not muted? verified on another pc that it actually works to begin with?

Set the device up in windows 8 as a communications device.
Right click on the speaker icon in windows 8 in desktop mode.

Select playback right click on the displayed Realtek headset and mic.
Set as default communications device.

Check to make sure that apps have permission to use your microphone. In Windows 10, it is Settings and then Privacy. Windows 8 has this somewhere also, but I forget in which part, but I know that it is in the Modern settings side of things.

I tried everything you guys said but no dice. i guess I need a new headset. RIP
