i can not get my phone to connect to my home wifi

i have an LG L86c phone and a netgear CG3000D router/modem.....i am able to get on wifi with my laptop but not with my phone.....

What does the phone do? Does it give you an error message when you try and connect to the router? Does it say that its connected to the router when in honesty it is not? Sometimes the settings on your phone can be a bit different than a computer's.

will it connect to other wifi connections/routers? are you typing in password or trying to use WPS? Also, is the router set to do mac filtering and if so did you list the mac address in the mac table?
