[SOLVED] i cannot for the life of me fix my ethernet conection

already installed every driver i know, the cable is fine, the modem is fine, but my computer does not think this ethernet cable exists, please help me im really tired.
ethernet works on my laptop no questions asked, any device works with this cable but my pc thinks its non existant.
edit: pressed solved by mistake.

So here's a foolproof test that helps figure out if the hardware/network is good/bad--boot a linux live cd and see if that recognizes it and works. If so, then your hardware and network are okay and just that windows is borked somehow.
