I cannot install Java and .NET framework 3.5

I have windows server 20012 and I was trying to install java on it so that I could run a minecraft server but whenever I tried to install it, it gave me a warning about that it was only available on desktop mode. When it was done loading and it tried to verify, it did not work. Also I tried to install .NET framework 3.5 and that failed as well. I tried to download it from the internet but it just opened a windows saying that it couldn't find the software. I'm having so many problems, it would be awesome if someone could help.
