I have just bought a XL2411Z, I installed all the drivers and bought this cable http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/191294025760?_trksid=p2060778... I connected it up with my monitor and when in windows went to Screen Resolution > Advanced and selected 144hz I am running windows 7 Ultimate BTW and I have done literally everything I also used another cable which was like the DVI but had a Positive slot at the side of the pins and was white and not a negative like my Dual Link Cable and yes I do have both sides plugged into the right slot monitor and GPU

Solution
use the DVI I dual link cable provided with your monitor. you must connect it to the DVI I slot of your gpu!

the cable you have bought states max res 1920 x 1200. a DVI D / I dual link would support up to 2560 x 1440 and 144hz .
