i cant access my files when using a sata to usb adapter

my laptop broke so i went to microcenter and bought a sata to usb adapter and when i plug in the drive it appears under my computer. when i try to access my file(i was the admin) it says i need permission and there is no where to add password.

Right-click your user folder and choose "Properties".
Click the "Security" tab.
Highlight your current User Account name in the upper panel (ie the account you are currently logged in to)
Change permissions as appropriate in the lower panel.
Click 'OK'
