I can't access my hard drive at all.

What troubleshooting steps have you performed? Do you have some important data stored on the drive? Where do you see that NTFS?(My Computer or Disk Management)
What do you mean by connecting to your desktop? Does it work just fine over there? In case it does, you need to back up the data stored on it until you sort this out. After that, you need to go to your desktop MOBO's website and update your USB drivers. Also, you can try attaching the drive to the USB ports on the back of the computer case.

In case the drive is not recognized by both systems, you can use different cables and ports. That way you will rule out a possible connection related issue.
It would be nice if you provide a screenshot of Disk Management.
