I have got windows 7 HP 64 Bit (I think its a trial, I haven't activated it yet) I got a key of this guy who works with computers and OS's and he gave me a key and I put it in but it said the only way I could activate it was over the phone and the phone said that it wouldn't activate because it might not be genuine but I check and it said it was genuine. What do I do?

Sounds as if 'this guy' has given you a code from a customers machine that is already is use, that is why it will decline activation or that it is an oem key and you need a retail one.
I highly recommend buying your own key code new from a retailer.

Aslong as the actual key is genuine then there's no reason why Microsoft will decline.

Are you sure it's a genuine key? Try speaking to somebody in person on the helpline. (You mentioned you spoke with some sort of automated system)
