i have been able to select the USB drive from a different screen but when i do so, It boots to the windows 10 logo and then to a black screen (remember im having the Unmountable_boot_volume error)
oh and secure boot is manuallly turned off

Did you formatted the USB drive before? Some applications may also require a different file system, ie FAT instead of NTFS for which i am not sure about yours. Also this media tool should be the only file on your usb drive after format
