I cant format my hard drive

Hello there

isit possible that somebody cant help me. I have just bought a 60gb SSD drive

I also have currently in my machine a 1TB drive with windows 7 loaded on to it. . i bought the SSD to have just windows 8 on so it boots faster and have the 1tb as storage. Now i only have windows 8 on usb as setup and not bootable iso this is because every time i try to create an iso on USB or disk it crashes. Now i have plugged in the SSD and installed windows 8 on it as a normal setup file on the desktop it all works fine and does boot faster. The problem i'm having is when i boot my machine is gives the option of booting win 7 or win 8. I only want windows 8 to boot. When i try formatting my 1tb with windows 7 on it windows will not allow me to do this as its seeing it as a system drive even if i take the 1tb out and load just ssd or even make the ssd the first boot process for hard drives it comes up saying please select proper boot device and press any key the only way i know how to resolve this is to change back the boot proccess to have the 1tb as first and then it will load fine.?

Any advice or help would be greatfull.

You should have removed the Windows 7 HDD from your PC before installing Windows 8 on the SSD.
Because you didn't do that, Windows 8 Setup has configured your PC for dual booting, which is why you get the dual boot menu every time you start your PC.

Yeah i know that but i couldn't as i needed an operating to system live to load windows 8 onto the SSD as it was only a setup file not a boot. I have managed to set the default boot to windows 8 but still cant format that partition

Is there a system reserved partition on the drive you are trying to format? Since two drives were installed when you installed Windows 8 it is possible Windows 8 put a system reserved partition on the Windows 7 drive. Create a system repair disk from Windows 8, shut down the computer, remove the Windows 7 drive, restart the computer and do a system repair using the disc you created.
