I have a 4k tv and when i connect it to my pc from a hdmi 2.0 cable, i even tried a dvi to hdmi, it doesn't work.

for some reason it worked on my laptop though which was connected to the reciever, not directly like my pc.(yes i tried pc to receiver as well....)

I've tried this on a 980 and my new 1080.

my 3 display ports are taken up by monitors also.

I don't understand why it won't work.

also it only goes to regular 1080 60fps.

Solution

Very fast protocols need to train up. If your connector or cable is marginal then it fails to train at 4K. After re-seating the connectors a bunch of time it now works -- maybe you got a spec of dust out of the way, that's all it takes sometimes.

Very glad it's now working. If it stops working consider swapping the cable.
I'm confused. Does it work or not? You state it doesn't work, but then there is this little note "also it only goes to regular 1080 60fps."

Can you clarify that when you plug in the 4k TV, that NOTHING happens - ie: It doesn't work.
Or is it stuck at 1080p?

So this is the 4th monitor on the card? Are you maxing out your cards' supported output? If you unplug say 2 of your three DP monitors, does it work then?

"So the cable, in this situation, really can't be the problem." Because cables never go bad, and all of the working 4K connections just happen to be using different cables from the receiver.

Check your cable means swap in a different one that you know is working.
