i tried to overclock but at 1800 (9*200), when i start either prime 95 or 3d mark 2001, i start to get screen corruption after a couple of mins. i really dont know what to do, i tried upping the vcore up to 7.125 but it didnt change anything so i dont know what to do...

here are my specs
barton 2500
asus a7n8x deluxe 2.0

Are u using the dual channel for your memory?

Try single channel, and see how it goes, did you buy the dual channel kit?

Try to test if the memory is holding you back by setting the "memory frequency" below 100 percent. May be necessary to change memory timings/memory voltage in order to get the said memory modules to operate at DualDDR 400+ speed.

i bought the dual channel kit, and i am running at 2.7 v and 3-4-4-10 timings. they are supposed to run 200 mhz with 2-2-2-6 but i get errors when i boot windows. i'll try dropping the fsb to 166 and pump up the multiplier to see how it goes

i tried each one separately and got the same result even at 166 mhz with 3-4-4-10 (but the multiplier was set to 12) so i really think its my cpu that is the problem...

i could try to up the voltage but as i said i tried up to 1.75 and got no better results, screen corruption starts after 1 min of torture test.

i just think i got a bad cpu, is my thinking right ?

I'm stumped. If no other guidance can be provided here i'd suggest searching the xtremesystems forum.

Screen corruption points to graphic card overheating. I know because my 9700 makes my screen go crazy when I push it too far and it produces too much heat. Maybe the extra heat from the overclocked cpu is affecting the cards cooling?

Try leaving the side panel off...

i think you got bad modules...if they are not running their rated speeds...as 9x 200 is not overclocking your cpu as it is rated for 1833 mhz...

Also i must ask, Are you overclocking your agp bus?
Or are you overclocking your graphics card in any way?
What powersupply are you using?

well he has a7n8x so the AGP/pci frequencies are locked by default.

is there a way to verify that ? my agp clock is set to auto, what is the normal clock rate ? 66 mhz ?

something weird, i just tried to overclock my agp card by boosting clock/memory, and showed the same type of screen corruption (artifact) when i pumped my mem to 335.

just wondered if there could be something wrong with my card cause this complete screen corruption started up beforce i overclocked my 3d card.

push Vdimm to 2.8, OCZ warrenty covers up to 2.9 so don't worry about it. I still somehow feels it's your ram.

i doubt its my ram now... i put 2.8 with 166 *12.5 and corruption starts as soon as i begin 3dmark. another note i can take my fsb and mem speed up to 215*8 and still work ok

plz, plz, stop picking on my poor memory, she was found innocent in this case. i passed all the tests without any errors. no non niet nada its not my memory, so what can it be ?

is it possible that my cpu is so bad that he cant overclock 100 mhz ?

OK, Ok fine, not guilty for memory, now let's move on to CPU. First off, remove your heatsink, and read what's on the black label, tell us that, it'll let us know the average overclockability on your particular CPU. First find out that, then we'll be able to help you.

i know its the last one, when i checked last time (i don't want to reinstall that heatsink, it gave me a hard time !) it was the aqexa or something like that, the one everyone said was the last revision

Ok, then it should hit 2.3-2.4 without any problems. Did you do any modding to your 9700pro? Is it seated properly into the AGP slot?

no modding, it's overclocked, but it did so even before i started overclocking, ill try reseating it, ill give you more news on that.

now thats whats up to now : ram is out of question, and the cpu too. the only thing left is my graphic card or mobo but the latter seems rather impossible. i reseated my graphic card, overclocked to 1900 (where i had artifacts before) ran 3d mark 2003 without a hitch. then restarted and boom artifacts on my starting screen... WTF shut down and restart and put everything back to stock and it works well. i also tried downclocking to 300 300 and artifacts show up as long as its more than 1800 mhz... now heres what i want to try : put a fixed agp, the standard and see how it goes. what is the standard agp bus speed ? 66 mhz?

well im bored of all this [-peep-], ill send the card back if it works with someone else's card...

This sounds like your graphics card's problem. I had this problem with my old defective 9800pro, artifacts just shows all over the screen. Could you send an email to me scottchen@canada.com of a screenshot on the artifacts?
