Hi
My ASUS M5A78L-M/USB3 is an AM3+ motherboard that is obviously very old. I have 4 x 4GB identical ram sticks that can run at 1866Mhz but despite the fact that there is a setting in the BIOS to choose that speed, having set it to 1866 the meory runs at 1600Mhz according to task manager. CPU-Z shows, looking at a Ram stick, in the timmings table a frequency of 933MHZ and indicates an XMP of 1866. (see image)
So I'm wondering what is the actual speed of the ram on the PC considering the age of the motherboard and, I think, XMP wasn't around when it was manufactured in about 2012. It should be able to run at
1866Mhz but is it?
Regards Steve
