1) Return the media if possible. If NOT, sell or keep for another computer but don't use it or its wasted money.
2) Find the upgrade link in System Tray (lower right), OR burn a W10 Install disc (link at bottom)
*if you create your own USB or DVD you run from within Windows and start the Setup EXE file and follow instructions (have your e-mail address ready is a good idea).
3) Finish upgrading (may need to reinstall some drivers like video)
4) Optional: Clean install Windows 10 (then upgrade drivers, install programs etc)
*You must upgrade from W8 32-bit to W10 32-bit, however... you can then insert a W10 64-bit Install disc that you created and do a CLEAN INSTALL to 64-bit.
The 32-bit and 64-bit licenses are compatible so you can replace W10 32-bit with W10 64-bit. Am I sure... yes, I did it.
(I believe I BOOTED to the installation media for the clean install, whereas upgrading started from within Windows... either way I did DELETE everything on the drive at the beginning of the installation to ensure a totally clean install though make sure you backed up everything you need)
Other:
W10 upgrading doesn't work on every system... sometimes rolls back to Windows 7/8.
Other:
Media Creation Tool:
a) link:
http://windows.microsoft.com/en-ca/windows-10/media-creation-tool-install
b) run program, choose "...other PC" method so you can download the ISO
c) Create DVD or USB (there's a USB option linked from within the tool though I just download the ISO and used RUFUS to create mine)
Other:
It's odd to me that you couldn't install Windows 10 with that media though. I don't recommend it since it's free but it should have still worked.
