I cant install Windows 7 on an external hard drive

Hello I have been trying to install windows 7 on an external hard drive with wintousb and have been unsuccessful. All I get are errors (Failed to extract file from the WIM file. Please temporarily deactivate your anti-virus software, and try again.(0x000000F306CF0025)) no matter which version I use I get the error even with no antivirus. Can you please help me.

Yes...installing Windows on an external drive is fraught with problems.

Why are you trying to put on a USB connected drive?

So install the Win 7 on a secondary internal drive. Dual boot.

Well...you can continue to beat your head against the USB drive thing (and then suffer with the substandard performance), or you can get another internal drive.

Or, partition your existing internal...
