Hello. This has been going on for about 1 month by the way so I am extremely frustrated. I have a Sony Vaio PC that I have had for about 2 years. I received it from my father after mine broke and it has been running like a charm. Then suddenly I get the blue screen of death and I had to restore the entire computer. I downloaded Winrar in order to unpack a few files for me and everything was fine. Then all of the sudden I can't open any zip files. It would download fine but when I would click on it an error would popup saying "Application not found". I have also noticed that before the restoration, the downloaded icons were 3 books stacked on top of each other while right now the files would be just a blank page. I have Winrar installed with the correct 64bit version but it still has this message. I am also experiencing error messages when trying to open and run other files. I can guarantee that the files are fine because I downloaded various files. I am completely lost because I can't download any files for my computer and it just brings anger. The only thing that comes to mine is restoring my computer but I don't have the Windows disc so that would probably create more problems. Please help. This problem has been making me resent computers and no one I know has heard of this problem.

IT is probably that the program used for opening the rar or zip files has been changed to some other program -- to fix find the zip file you want to open - right click and select open with - select winrar from the list presented or browse to the location of winrar. make sure the check box for always use this program is checked and hit OK ( it should open the zip in winrar and fix the file association so that winrar is always used to open zip files.
