This is a thread for real compuerts geeks. 😀
I bought an AMD A10-5800k around 4 years ago with Gigabyte ga-F2a88XM-3DH.
I had 8GB RAM with 1866 Mhz.
My PSU is 500W, a NOX SW.
I had the Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO as CPU Fan.
***
Every time i tried to overlock my system, it failed. I tried with AMD Overdrive, with Gigabyte App (EasyTune), went to the BIOS following steps for my CPU, Mobo, etc.
Maybe the trick worked a couple days. My CPU is 3,8 by default and i tried 4,1 or 4,0.
Did not work.
Restart failures, don't recognize the HDD or the SSD (when i bought it), 3 beeps, freezed monitor, I needed to reset Bios and return to the fabric default, and son on.
I wonder always why, it's a K AMD. When it worked a couple weeks, randomly it did not recognize the HDD, so i was tired of that and return to the default 3,80Mhz.
And suddenly, yesterday i saw something: im building a new PC form scratch, AMD again, and i need a new PSU because my old has the 24 pin and a 4 pin connector for the Motherboard.
My motherboard needs a 8 pin power, but i bought an adaptor for the 4 pin of the PSU and connected to the 8 pin of the motherboard. My PC run smooth a couple years -mid-low gaming, office, etc.-.
And suddenly reviewing a PSU for the new motherboard (the new Mobo has 8 pin connector again and i want to connect it right), someone wrote: if you have a 4 pin PSU connected to the motherboard who needs 8 pin, you can't overclock because is not giving enough power (you missed 4 pin).
Is this the reason maybe all these years i couldnt overclock with stability? Is it maybe i need a better CPU Fan?
Thanks very much!!! 😀
