I cant play movie on vlc

i m using packard bell MIT-LYN01 i m having in playing movie in vlc.as all the screen turn green but sound only come can you help me to solve this

sounds unlikely but is it a supported format? hehehe vlc basically supports everything, can u play a video of the same format on vlc correctly? sometimes this happens when a video or movie is trying to be played that a computer cant handle, ex, downloading a hd or blu ray torrent of a movie and playing it on an older machince, redownload? reinstall?

i m playing movies from external harddisk, and the same movies from harddisk play in all my friend laptop not mine .can u now tell me wat abt this problem it is not reason of formate i think
