My router (ZXHN H168N V3.1) cannot open any ports, I have done everything that came to my mind, but so far no success.
Here is a picture of the current settings of the Port Forward: http://prntscr.com/nnbwgb
I am trying to open a minecraft server on which me and my friends could play on. I've watched some tutorials on youtube on how to do this, but they all didn't work.
I've tried to Port Forward (25565) with 2 methods:
  1. By going to the router page
  2. By following some random tutorial on doing it through Windows Firewall.
Both methods have done nothing.
Any help would be appreciated.

Did you verify that you actually have a public ip. Check the ip in the wan on your router and compare that to a site like whatsmyip.

Try using the DMZ option instead of port forwarding for a test. Try to completely disable the firewall for a short time. Make sure the program is actually active on the port you think it is. The program must be running to respond to any of the port scanner tools.

Well, I'm new to this Port Forwarding thing, there isn't a section on the router page named WAN, I've gone through every menu i could, the page never says what my public IP is.Oh also, while searching for the WAN section, I looked for a DMZ section, well that doesnt exist either.
The minecraft server is set to port 25565, but when i go to whatsmyip or something like that,it says the port isn't open.
Disabling the firewall didn't change anything either.
And is there something wrong in the picture I've linked? Have i done somehting wrong?

I can find no details about that router. The manual is pretty much worthless talks about what lights mean. Maybe it is not in english and it is filtered on my search.

Port forwarding is pretty simple and it appears you did it correctly.

So when it doesn't work the most common problem is you do not have a public IP address. Most routers have a method of seeing what IP address is assigned to your router by the ISP. It is in wan or internet or some page like that.

I guess you could call your ISP and ask them if they assign public or private ip addresses to their users.

If you have a public ip then the next most common one is that the server is misconfigured or is blocking the traffic. Both the firewall must allow the traffic to get to the application program and the program must be configured correctly.

After that you much less uncommon causes like the ISP may not allow the ports or your router has a software bug.

Not sure how I can help you though you have to determine if you have a public or private IP address.

There is a shortage of ip addresses so some ISP that do not have a lot use private IP addresses. The number of people who actually need a public IP is small only someone hosting some kind of server. The vast majority of people just surf the web or watch videos or play games that use central servers.

It all depends on you ISP. Some you just need to ask them for a public IP and they will give you one. Other want a extra monthly fee for having a public IP. Some either have a technical reason they can't or just don't want to offer public IP.

So you need to call your ISP and see what they have to say.

There are some VPN services that will provide you with a fixed public IP. I know nordvpn used to offer the service. It was not extremely expensive but I would bet for the vpn service plus the fixed up it will run $15-$20/month. I have not looked at this in years so they may not offer it any more. Still it might be easier to rent a hosted server than mess with vpn.
