[SOLVED] I can't update Windows 10 Security Update.

I keep trying to download and update the most important security Windows update that it says I need to but when I complete the download it's getting stuck at %100 and cancelled by itself.

The update code is KB4551853 and the error code is 0x800f0982. My OS is Windows 10 x64 BIT.

I tried every solution like deleting windows update cache, downloaded the update from microsoft catalog, disabled some services from services.msc and but nothing happened.

If it's not causing you and grief at the moment...you may want to wait because in April....

I don't recall what update it was...but there was an update in April that did that to all three of my PCs.

I tried a few things but nothing worked.

So I had this update "pending" on all my Pcs...then an update came along in May...and the pending updates went away and problem solved.

well, Win 10 version update 2004 was released last week but its not on windows update yet.

You could go here and click on the upgrade now button - https://www.microsoft.com/en-au/software-download/windows10
that will download the upgrade assistant that you can run to install the new version - it includes the update you are stuck on

it has a few known problems though - https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/release-information/status-windows-10-2004

So its up to you. I have it already and so far so good

I tried your way but still I got the same error code during the setup. It says that "Windows update not completed". Thanks for your help.

So, basically all I need to do is waiting for a fix, right?

I was going to try and figure out why it wouldn't complete....but then I just said "screw it"....and I left it.

Then a few weeks or a month went by....and another update came out.....and that one updated just fine.
