i connect joystick to pc to play grid 2 multiplayer but it does not work

I connect gamepad to play grid 2 multiplayer when it says press start i t does not work

What gamepad, some controllers have a switch on the back that changes the input mode, try switching that. Try unpluging it then plug it back in and make sure that windows installs the drivers, and also see if it needs drivers downloaded such as the Logitech ones do. Just go to the official web page of it and see if there are any downloads.
