Windows stuck the recovery partition onto a large hard drive that was not the same HDD the OS was installed to. It orphaned a TB of storage space so I just reformatted the disk and went on with life. 2 years on I can't update my geforce drivers and I think it's because it's trying to make a restore point.

So is there a way short of reinstalling the OS to repair the lost partition?

Solution
Recovery partition is used for doing a reset, its not the location that System restore saves to as far as I know. You can turn off system restore if that is what you think is problem - https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/99782-enable-disable-system-restore-windows.html

OMG - this is mislabelled - https://www.anyrecover.com/deleted-files-recovery-data/create-recovery-partition-windows-10/ as it insitead shows you how to make a recovery USB... not the same thing. I hate clickbait.

this shows you how to make a new one - https://win10.guru/create-a-custom-windows-10-factory-recovery-partition/
