Corsair 500watt CX PSU

Corsair 88R Carbide Micro ATX case

I had put all of these components (apart from the Corsair case) into an old Compaq Presario case a number of years ago and everything generally worked except on games. Then when I started to play games on the system I found out the poor air cooling was probably causing games to crash. So I swapped to a Corsair Carbide 88R micro ATX case. Then as soon as I booted up the computer would freeze on the loading screen. What has happened if everything worked in the old case?

How old is that PSU? You should be having a PSU that is at least 550W(or more) for the sake of longevity. I'm assuming that the PSU is as old as the platform and as such is incapable of delivering the necessary power to the entire system.

The PSU is pretty old, at least as old as the motherboard, it is powering 3 larger 120mm fans in the new case, the old case only had 1 92mm fan.
