X399 boards support THreadripper $1000 TR4 CPUs, and cost $400 and up...

X299 boards support quite warm socket 2066 CPUs ranging from $350-$1000, and also cost $400 and up...

Z270 boards cost $145, support the 7700K, which currently outperforms most stock clocked CPUs in any other socket in almost all games....

Most of the Fatality/Maximus/Gaming/Rampage/ designations mean little, offering similar performance to standard high quality yet value conscious motherboards such as the MSI Z270 SLI Plus and the Asus Z270A Prime... If the wireless feature and/or a 10 GB NIC is worth the extra $100-$300 for you, get whichever one you wish, of course....
