I don't know if my cpu bottlenecks my gpu.

Does a Xeon W3690 bottleneck a MSI GTX 970 Gaming 4G? My friend told me somtheing about socket type, but I don't have the money to buy a new motherboard and a new cpu.

What game? Bottlenecks are always workload specific. There isn't a combination of hardware in existence that will universally bottleneck.

That's a pretty decent CPU for it's age. It could bottleneck in specific titles, but it's not a bad CPU. It's possible that the platform itself can't move data quickly enough for some titles, though.
