Hey,
So i am looking to upgrade my pc, i have a Asus P7P55D-E LX motherboard a Intel Core i5 760 processor and a AMD Radeon HD 5700 Series.
I want to gradually upgrade these things and i was wondering what i should buy first?
I was planning on getting a EVGA GeForce GTX 960 2GB SuperSC ACX 2.0+ Video Card first then get a new mother board and a processor in the following months.
My budget is $350AUD right now.
I would just like to hear your opinion, thanks 😀

Solution
I think you're spot-on for going GPU first, then platform. I'd really look at the RX 470 in Australia through (same price range) versus the 960.

1060 is great, but could really stretch the budget, and the 470 would have the potential in the future for CrossFire. FreeSync (adaptive sync) monitors are also less expensive....if a monitor was ever in the cards in the future.

Thanks heaps, ill look into it 😀

Why? Crossfire 470 would be a terrible option over a single 1060 or 480. I'd rather have the single stronger card as opposed to two weaker ones.

For sure, but a single 1060 or 480 exceeds the OPs stated budget in Aussies....

Not by that much though. The cheapest 1060 in AUD is the Gigabyte Windforce which retails for $419. And the OP's budget is $350. So it's really only a difference of $69. It's not worth it to go a step down and then pay twice the amount for less performance. I would rather pay the extra $70 and get the best card for the money. Not to mention you would probably have to buy a new power supply to meet the power demands of a dual card system.
