Question I don't really know what psu i should go for

I have a 300w 16 Pin psu right now i was thinking to go to a 500w. Does the size matter? also is there any specific brand i should get?

Quality is equally important to wattage. As above what is the full pc spec and what exact 500w psu are you looking at?

Oh yes, it is an old computer from 2007 i was just gonna change the psu and give it to my cousin. I was looking at the evga 500w and was gonna use an adapter if necessary. It's a core 2 quad only has 3gb ram the computer is an HP pavilion m1000 media center.
It can't be upgraded to an i5 sadly. Now I just feel like it's not worth the upgrade.

Also I am using a GT 730
The ram is ddr2
It uses a Q6600 socket 2.4GHz
500gb western digital hard drive hhd

Ok being an old HP that I don’t know I cannot advise. It’s possible it uses non standard connectors and/or size psu.
