[SOLVED] I dont think my gpu is getting enough power

I have a AMD radeon 6950 and when i go into a game i can play for a few minutes but then my screen goes black and i am forced to switch my computer off from the power button. Im guessing its the gpu because when i lower the power limit in msi afterburner and lower the clock speeds it fully works but has a major impact in performance.

My specs:
Cpu: Intel Core2 Quad Q8300
Gpu: Amd Hd Radeon 6950 (Sapphire)
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-G33M-S2
Ram: 4x2 DDR2 Ram 800mhz
Hard Drive: 150Gb
Solid State Drive: 60Gb
Cooler Power 750 watt power supply (Found out it is only outputting 600-650 watts)
Os: Windows 10 Pro

I'd say about 65-75 degrees celsius

except that would not cause crashing under load, it would cause slowness, also win 10 is lighter than 7 or 8 in many ways.

Open Hardware Moniter.

They are good for that kind of temp.

What's the model number of the PSU. It could be the problem, but you are well aware from what it says it's capable of, and what it might actually be capable of it is overstating what it can do.

Well i actually got this Computer of gumtree and it had it already installed.

Not a single review on a trusted review site, that's my big red flag.
They don't appear on any PSU tier list (flawed as they are) even as a brand.
They have no webpage that I can find.
It all points to a problem PSU.

Another giveaway is the 1x6pin and 1x6+2pin PCI-E connectors, an 850W PSU should have 4x6+2Pin minimum, maybe 6 being optimistic

Ask before you buy, give us the options you have at a budget you are happy with and we'll help.

A good quality 500W unit is a lot better than a poor quality 800W unit.

However be aware that this may not solve your problem, but it is a problem that needs to be solved.
