So I just built myself a new gaming PC and I'm honestly quite happy with it. I bought everything piece by piece so I didn't realize how expensive it ended up being. It was around $2000. I was just curious if in general this is reasonable for what I got or should I have made some changes? I did include the peripherals in that total though so maybe that's why I think it's on the expensive side? Anyway, here is everything I bought , Let me know if you would have made different choices.

Yeah, you did kinda overspend, and also lost performance where you could have spent money more wisely. Now I'm somewhat of an expert and experienced PC builder because I spend several hours a day making builds for people here and researching parts, so it's not like you screwed up super big time.

But some of those are based on current pricing and special deal. The only thing I feel that is really overpriced is the case. The cost difference between the ProM Acrylic and the MasterCase Maker 5 could have allowed you a 1440p screen like the ViewSonic VX2478-SMHD 1440p IPS 4ms.

Gigabyte Windforce 1070 instead of the Asus

Noctua NH-D14 cooler instead of the AIO closed loop water cooler.

EVGA 650W G2 with SLI in the future or the G2 550W without SLI

A 144Hz 1440p monitor. The performance that PC has is wasted on that monitor. A 2017 build with a resolution and refresh rate that's been around for many years. The monitor doesn't allow your PC to show you what it's made of. You've probably played some games with that. Move over to a 144Hz monitor and the difference will be night and day. Your build is capable of so much more than a budget monitor. $400 of graphics power and $154 of display power. Bit unbalanced.

I can't comment on pricing. No clue what you spent. Those prices may not have been what you paid. If you would have purchased that identical build through something like Ibuypower it would have probably been $1000 more. At least $500. so I don't feel you spent too much on each item. Money could have definitely been moved around to net you a better monitor. But you came here after the milk has been spilled :( . But that's all under the bridge. Pretty sweet PC :D Not so good monitor.

Thanks for the replies. I should have mentioned I already had a nice asus 1080p monitor so the one I bought was for a second screen. I was thinking that I could get use to gaming on this and then I could upgrade my monitor when I wanted to switch things up instead of building a whole new PC again.
