I feel like my computer isn't performing as it should.

So I have a pretty decent computer.

I am using:
AMD Vishera 8350(8 core/4.1ghz)
EVGA GTX 970 SSC
8 GB RAM

As I play games I don't get the fps I should. i.e Rift I'll get about 30-50 fps on Med settings/shadows on low
WoW on med-high about 50 fps
Gmod varies a ton. some maps ill run about 300 fps and some others I will run 30-40 fps.
With the amount of money and the hardware I have put in my computer I feel I should not be having these issues.

What are your temps and what power supply do you have?
What is your memory and cpu usage when not in a game?
What is your motherboard and how much memory do you have?

my temps will get up to about 60C and just hover around there. give or take 5C between my gpu and cpu

While idle my cpu is running at about 5-10%. and my memory is at 2GB(25%)

My PSU is Corsair cx750
My motherboard Asus m5a99x EVO R2.0
I have 8 GB of memory

display driver stopped responding and has recovered:
Display Driver NVIDIA windows kernel Mode Drivers, Version 347.52 stopped responding and has successfully recovered.

Was playing Garrys mod and my screen went black, it tabbed me out and once I force quit the process I got that notice.

Remove all drivers for your graphics card. Get the latest Nvidia driver and re test.
