[SOLVED] I feel something is holding back performance

Hello, Im playing the new modern warfare & experiencing some issues: After prolonged game play I get a rainbow effect which after another hour or so the game turns every light source into a blinding white light that fills the screen. When this happens the GPU runs at 80% and the CPU runs at around 96%; The game runs at fairly low FPS.

Desktop Res: 3840 x 2160

Optimal Gforce Experience Res: 2560x1440 on high.

2 intake fans at the front, 1 intake fan on the bottom, 1 exhaust fan at the back & 2 exhaust fans on the top

Does something need to be upgraded or overclocked?

How consistently does this happen? Just the one game or all?

Do you use anything to monitor the hardware while gaming? Eg. MSI Afterburner.

Personally would start with a clean installation of graphics drivers.

3840x2160 is 4k UHD, that being a 16:9 multiplier of 1920x1080 (1080p FHD). Don't know why GE would choose 2560x1440 as that's not a derivative of 1080p but of 720p HD, totally different pixel setup. Gets you black bars top/bottom, or should normally.

For 4k either way, 8Gb of system ram is low, if going to upgrade anything, it'd be a move to 16Gb, many 4k resolution games can hit 12Gb or higher.

Rtx2070 at 4k is also a little low, but doable, you just won't hit ultra settings much, but with 4k you honestly don't need to. Explains the low fps.

You need to check temps. Especially on that gpu. Pushing 4k for that amount of time is probably overheating the vram/VRM's on the gpu but with the cpu sitting at 96%, that's a lot of usage too, so warrants scrutiny too.

Without knowing the temps under that kind of load, can't really say if it's an airflow solvable problem or hardware cooking issue that might be solved with better cooling.
