I figure out where to attach a wire

Hi, I was repairing the power cord on my hair dryer and accidentally disconnected a wire from its variable switch. When I tried to reattach it to what looked like the most logical terminal and I turned the thing on, it blew up. Now I'm not sure where to put the wire, any suggestions? All advice will be appreciated. Thanks! David

Best suggestion - the dustbin/garbage bin. Messing with electrical items can be dangerous to your health and that of anyone else in the building. Chances are if you found the right terminal the thing wouldn't work anyway.

Throw it away and be thankful it didn't burn you.
