Hey, been a while since I've used NT4. Where do I go to make sure my CDROM/CD-RW are DMA enabled? Looked for 1/2 an hour but couldn't find how. Is this a BIOS thing only for NT4?

Nick, why is it that I go into "SCSI" to see if DMA is enabled for "IDE" devices? Please explain this.
Anyway, I have values of 0 for port 0 and 1 for port 1 (my SCSI adapter). I have now changed the value of port 0 to 1 and will reboot for the changes to take effect. Does this affect both IDE controllers?

I posted this exact question on other boards and was unanimously told it was a BIOS configuration only. What do you think?

OK, let me start from Control Panel>SCSI Adapters
We can see there SCSI Adaptec controller with harrdrives, tape and optic devices attached.
Also we can see: IDE CD-ROM (ATAPI).
Yes, SCSI applet is the place where Windows NT normally puts CD-ROMs during installation.
The thing is, that there is no other proper place in WinNT where to show friendly CD device controller(s).
(there's a separate CD-ROM icon in Device Manager in Win9x)

So, in WinNT we can see our CD devices from Disk Administrator,
from SCSI Adapters in Control Panel,
and from registry HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\HARDWARE\DEVICEMAP\Scsi\

That’s the nature of NT to put its IDE CD devices into SCSI family.
