Question I forgot the Name of an Old RPG game, can somebody help

Hello, I think this game dates back to early 2000s, this game had a character creation (pretty basic though), could also select gender. The game starts off with our character living in some woods along with his/her father. The father walks out from the woods poisoned or something and dies in the character's hands. This takes place on a bridge sort of thing on a small river by the house of our character. Then the character sets off into the forest to fight the monsters. The game also had Inventory system, followers (im not sure if it had or not cuz it was like 15 years ago cant remember exactly), One of the monsters that i remember correctly was a mutated spider with a fleshy human skull, it also had variants in colors (Blue red and green). I loved that game back then but I never found what its name was after a few years.

could you be referring to dungeon siege? its been ages since i played and pretty much forgotten how it starts off
