Question I forgot to put thermal pads on my m.2

I recently upgraded my pc with a new cpu, motherboard, and m.2 drive and I didn’t realize the mobo gave me thermal pads to put on my m.2 since the mobo has a heatsink. Is it worth it to try and put the thermal pads on now?

The m.2 is a samsung 980 and the motherboard is an Asus ROG strix B550-F

Yes you should use it to make the most from the heatsink.

My m.2 runs with no heat sink, as long as you’ve got good airflow they should run fine that way as well.

Heat is not the only reason for which you might want to use a heatsink, it can protect the NAND chips from physical damages as well.

Correct. Sometimes boards don’t come with them. As far as physical, I would hope people would be careful.
