Hi there again, Warren_7!

So as far as I understand the issue is getting into BIOS, right? In this case, you should know that this depends on the motherboard manufacturer. They have different access keys to BIOS. My recommendation is to check this guide and, hopefully, it would help you set things up in BIOS and install Windows successfully.

If the issue is still present and you can't get anywhere else besides the Black screen, you should try resetting your BIOS settings back to factory defaults by reseating the CMOS battery or resetting the jumper on the mobo.

Give these a try and let me know how it goes! :)

Welcome to the community, Warren_7!

I'd recommend you to go to BIOS and check your boot priority. Make sure you put the Windows 7 installation disk (DVD/CD-ROM) as first boot and the SATA HDD as second. Once you do that, you should be able to go into the Win 7 install wizard. Here is a helpful link from MS that might shed some light on the procedure: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/installing-reinstalling-windows#1TC=windows-7

Best of luck! :)

Hi SuperSoph,
How do I get to the Bios as all I get is a black screen when I put in the disk and turn on the PC.
My issue is that I was originally running Win 7 Pro but after many pop ups from Microsoft saying that my system and software was compatible for Win 10, I upgraded, this crashed my HDD, my Son had a win 10 recovery disk so he did a recovery to Win 10 but after this I could not go back to Win 7. He then reformatted the HDD but now we cannot get anything other than a black screen. I really want to get this PC back up as I cannot run all of Adobe Creative Suite v5.5 e.g. Acrobat Pro on Win 10. The PC has an i7 chip 16 GB ram and 2tb HDD it is better then my new PC which I had to by to get connected. I looked at the link you sent but could not see the solution to get to Bios as they all assume that everyone knows this.
